How to Decorate a Studio Apartment

Unfolding Apartment

Decorating a studio and loft apartments can be tricky because sometimes the space can be too small, odd-sized, and awkward. Besides dealing with small spaces, it can also be difficult to layout the furniture or make divisions from your bedroom and public living spaces. Don't despair, instead, keep these few tips in mind when designing your studio or loft apartment.

  • Use furniture to designate space. A large wardrobe, armoire, or bookshelf can be used as a wall to separate your spaces. If these pieces of furniture do not have attractive backs, then paint or wallpaper the back to add charm and appeal.
  • Use curtains, rugs and color to separate space. A dark wall color in the bedroom and a light wall color in your living room and kitchen can make a nice and clear separation of space. Another technique is to use area rugs and curtains as borderlines for each room. These ideas will separate the space visually but still maintain an open concept.
  • Use temporary walls, dividers, or sliding glass doors. If you are the handy type, then install some gypsum board walls, partial dividers, or sliding glass doors to separate your bedroom from your living space.

These are but a few suggestions that will help you create a wonderful layout for your studio or loft apartment. For more ideas check out these articles:
